My Philosophy
In every project I undertake, my initial inquiry revolves around understanding the client's vision for their space. Delving into their preferences for both individual and communal areas, I aim to discern elements they value and aspects they wish to avoid. Through numerous projects, I've underscored the vital role of establishing a clear vision, determining the placement of structural elements, and creating voids within the design. A robust architectural concept not only guides my decisions but also serves as a systematic framework, enabling a comprehensive analysis of the client's objectives and requirements. My ultimate objective is to captivate the enthusiasm of developers, clients, family, and friends as we collectively envision new spaces, offering a distinctive and innovative design perspective. While my design styles exhibit diversity, a prevailing theme is a relaxed approach to modern living. I specialize in curating spaces that emanate cleanliness, brightness, and openness, featuring textures and elements that contribute to comfort and coziness. My expertise spans various domains, including modern residential projects, multifamily living spaces, green commercial developments, and initiatives focused on historic preservation. Additionally, my keen interest in wood timber design reflects a continuous exploration of structural integrity and purpose in architectural endeavors.
My Story
My exploration of architecture and design commenced at the age of fifteen when I enrolled in the Architectural Drafting & Design program during high school. This experience provided me with foundational skills in drawing, construction, and the use of design technologies. Following graduation, I delved into Civil Engineering at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where I honed my abilities to design physical and built environments, encompassing roads, structural elements, and concrete design. This educational journey opened doors to a realm of design and creativity. My pursuit of architectural knowledge and creativity persists at the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design, complemented by a minor in Interior Design. Engaging in this artistic science allows me to express creativity and delve into the intricacies of design quality. A pivotal moment in my professional development was an internship at WD&D Architects in North Little Rock, where I expanded my skills in research, design thinking, and presenting ideas through design critiques. During my internship, I actively contributed to the team's efforts in the expansion of the new I30 Crossing Competition in downtown Little Rock. This initiative aimed to enhance pedestrian connectivity, introduce greenspace programming, support adjacent economic activities, and activate a new public space beneath the interstate. This experience fueled my passion for contributing to the built environment positively. Looking ahead, a few of my aspirations include designing cost-effective and affordable homes, as well as contributing to a more sustainable environment in commercial design.
